Biographical
Information
Born in 1968. Self-taught. Illustrator, designer,
and writer. He has published more than 80 books in Argentina, Mexico,
France, Spain and Switzerland. He has been awarded the "Lista de
Honor" [Honour List] of ALIJA [Asociación de Literatura
Infantil y Juvenil de Argentina, Argentine Association of Literature
for Children and Young People] (1992, 1995, 1996 and 1999), the
first prize "Fantasía" [Fantasy] of Argentine Children's
Literature (1998), the first honourable mention in the same competition
(1999) and the first honourable mention for the award "Utopía
Latinoamericana" [Latin American Utopia], at the 27th
International Congress of the IBBY, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia
(2000). He was elected candidate to the "Octogonal" award offered
by CIELJ in Paris, France (1994 and 1996). He is the Argentine nominee
to the Hans Christian Andersen Award (2002 and 2004).
He has authored the great murals for the "Children's
Week" held at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de México
[Mexican Pedagogy University] (1992) and the murals exposed at "Children's
Museum - Abasto", city of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1999). He was
elected in the international fairs on illustration of children's
books held in Bratislava, Slovakia (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001
and 2003), Bologna, Italy (1996 and 2000), Sàrmede, Italy
(1994, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003), and in the City of Buenos Aires,
Argentina (1998, 1999, 2002 and 2003). His works have been exhibited
in individual expositions held in Mexico (1992), Argentina (1995,
1997, 2002 and 2003) and Portugal (1999).
He has worked as teacher and professor in kindergartens,
elementary and high schools, professional education schools and
universities, and has given numerous courses and workshops on illustration
of children's books destined to teachers and specialists in children’s
literature. He has been invited as lecturer in Argentina, Uruguay,
Mexico, Portugal, and Italy. His show "Illustration of Children's
Books - The unexplored sea" -a series of educational TV programs
on illustration prepared for TelePuerto TV (Santa Fe, Argentina)-
was on air in 2001.
As editor, he is the director of the series Libros-Album
del Eclipse, published by Ediciones del Eclipse, Buenos Aires,
Argentina.
He is Full Professor of the postgraduate course
on illustration of children’s books taught at the Universidad Nacional
del Arte – Office of the National Director of the Postgraduate Degree
in Visual Arts "Ernesto de la Cárcova", Buenos
Aires, Argentina.
He is the author of articles and literature reviews
on illustration of children's books published in journals of Argentina,
Colombia and Spain.
He is a founding and active member of Foro de
Ilustradores Argentinos [Argentine Illustrators' Association],
and as such, has acted as organizer of the Buenos Aires Fairs on
Illustration of Children's Books.
